OMPA Board Approves Skiles As Interim Director

During the June 9th Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority (OMPA) Board of Directors monthly business meeting, Mark Skiles, City of Blackwell’s City Manager, was unanimously approved as an Interim Director on the board.  Skiles was designated by the Blackwell City Council as the city’s elector to serve on the board, which consists of 11 members elected by representatives (electors) of the member cities.

Skiles has served as the city manager in Blackwell since September 22, 2008.  He also is an ex-officio member of the Blackwell Area Chamber of Commerce and a former member of the local Rotary club.  In addition, he is a member of the City Managers Association of Oklahoma representing District 4.

He is a native of Kansas.  Prior to accepting the position in Blackwell, he served as the city manager for the City of Concordia, Kansas.  He also has served as the city manager in two other Kansas cities – Eureka and Kiowa.  Skiles is a graduate of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.  He and his wife Jenniser have six children- four girls and two boys.

Skiles will stand for election by the electors for a new three-year term during OMPA’s Annual Electors’ Meeting on September 8, 2011.
