Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority (OMPA) General Manager Dave Osburn has been appointed to two committees designed to assist the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC).
Osburn was selected by industry peers to sit on the Reliability Issues Steering Committee (RISC), as well as the Member Representatives Committee (MRC). Both committees report to the board for NERC, which is the regulatory authority delegated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to assure the reliability of the bulk power system in North America.
Osburn came to OMPA in 2007, after serving as General Manager & CEO of Richmond Power and Light in Indiana. He was first the Director of Operations for OMPA, before moving up to Assistant General Manager in 2009 and taking over as General Manager in August of 2013.
“I am excited to have the opportunity to serve Public Power and other transmission-dependent utilities in this critical area of our industry,” Osburn said.
RISC exists to provide high-level leadership and accountability for nominated issues of strategic importance to bulk power system reliability. It may recommend reliability solutions and offer leadership input on issues that enter the NERC standards process.
MRC elects independent trustees, votes on amendments to bylaws, and provides advice and recommendations to the NERC board with respect to the development of budgets, business plans and funding mechanisms, as well as other matters important to the operations of the corporation. Committee terms are for two years.
