New Director of Operations at OMPA

Melie Vincent took over as Director of Operations for the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority on Nov. 14.

A native of Kentucky, Vincent has an extensive background in the power industry. She began her career as an economic analyst at Big Rivers Electric Corporation, before becoming the market settlements analyst for ACES Power Marketing, assisting in the development of settlement processes. She then served as the power supply manager for Brazos Electric Cooperative, assuming responsibility for real-time to long-term generation portfolio deployment. Before coming to OMPA, Vincent joined strategy and business development at Midcontinent Independent System Operation.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology from the University of Southern Indiana.

The Director of Operations at OMPA directs the planning, implementation and overseeing of all facets of power scheduling and training. The director also aids in coordination between OMPA, the Southwest Power Pool, engineering consultants and management.

The Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority (OMPA) is a wholesale power company owned by 42 municipal electric utilities. OMPA provides economies of scale in power generation and related services to support community-owned electric utilities. The members of OMPA serve approximately 250,000 Oklahomans.
