 Mayor Swinerton To Fill Vacancy on OMPA Board of Directors

Mayor Leslie Swinerton of Geary was recommended by the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority’s (OMPA) Board of Directors Nominations Committee to fill a vacancy on the board for the remainder of the term expiring in September 2014.  She was confirmed by the board at the August 8th monthly meeting to fill the vacancy until the Electors meeting and will be voted on at 2013 Annual Electors Meeting to complete the term.  The Electors meeting will be held on Thursday, September 12th at 1 pm at the Roland H. Dawson Headquarters Building in Edmond.

Mayor Swinerton has served as the Mayor since November 2012.  She has served on the Geary City Council representing Ward 3 since 2003 and was appointed Vice-Mayor in 2005.  She continued to serve as Vice-Mayor until November 2012 when she was elected Mayor.

The Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority (OMPA) is a municipal joint-action agency created for the purpose of providing an adequate, reliable and affordable supply of electrical power and energy to Oklahoma’s municipally owned electric systems.  The Authority presently serves 39 municipally owned electric systems in Oklahoma.  As a consumer-owned public power entity, OMPA is owned by the member cities it serves.
