Steve Richards, Mayor of the City of Kingfisher is the recipient of the 2017 Oklahoma Mayor of the Year Award representing communities with fewer than 5,000 in population. He was presented the award from the Mayors’ Council of Oklahoma (MCO) during the Oklahoma Municipal League (OML) Annual Conference awards banquet last night in Tulsa.
Richards promotes the “unity” in community, serves selflessly and always iterates team mentality.
Mayor Richards has directly impacted numerous projects in multiple categories including resurfacing the major residential four lane road, widening a street near a middle school, and a bus barn to accommodate safe passage of two school busses on the road.
The MCO award recognizes the dedication and commitment brought to the highest elected post in municipal government. Criteria for consideration require nominees to be a member of MCO and OML and in elected municipal office at the time of the presentation. Additionally, nominees must complete a minimum of three years of service as an elected municipal official.
Kingfisher is one of OMPA’s 42 member cities.
