Holman Nominated To APPA Board

Cindy L. Holman, Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority’s (OMPA) General Manager, has been nominated to the American Public Power Association’s (APPA) Board of Directors.  Election will take place at APPA’s National Conference in June.  Holman has been serving as OMPA’s General Manager since February 1, 2007.  Previously, she held the position of Director of Operations and CFO at OMPA.

Holman has been employed by OMPA since July 1985, starting as an Investment Analyst and has held several positions at the Authority since that time.  She assumed the Director of Operations and CFO position in the summer of 2005.

She has been a member of the TAPS (Transmission Policy Access Study group) for several years – TAPS is a national group with a long history of strong advocacy for a robust transmission grid and competitive wholesale electric markets.  Holman was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of this group and currently serves as Vice Chairman.  Holman was an active member of APPA’s Business and Financial Section and served as the Vice Chairman and then Chair of APPA’s General Accounting, Finance and Audit Committee.

While serving as OMPA’s Director of the Financial Services Department, the department first received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).  This award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

Based in Washington, D.C., APPA is the national service organization for the nation’s more than 2,000 community- and state-owned not-for-profit electric utilities serving 46 million customers.  OMPA is an agency of the State of Oklahoma that currently serves 38 municipal electric systems in Oklahoma.
