C. MAX SPEEGLE COMMENDED FOR HIS 15 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO OMPA
On Thursday, January 14, 2010 OMPA General Counsel, C. Max Speegle, was recognized by the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority’s Board of Directors for his service to Public Power and the State of Oklahoma.
C. Max Speegle has been OMPA’s legal counselor for 15 years and a practicing attorney for 35 years. Speegle served as Edmond’s City Manager from 1988 to 1995. While being employed at OMPA, he maintained his private law practice with Randel Shadid in downtown Edmond.
“I will continue to stay with Randel and have my little private law practice in downtown Edmond and will keep my hand in to some extent, but I want to take it easier. I do not want to continue to work as hard as we all work at OMPA,” said Speegle.
In addition to his private practice, serving as Edmond’s City Manager and OMPA General Counsel, Speegle was also the General Counsel for the University of Central Oklahoma when George Nigh was president and also served as a municipal judge in Edmond for nine years from 1976 to 1985.
Besides being a member of the Oklahoma Bar and Rotary, he is also looking forward to becoming more involved with Lawyers for Children. According to the organizations’ website, “Lawyers for Children offers free legal and social work advocacy to abused and neglected children, children in foster care, and children in high conflict custody cases.”
OMPA is a state governmental agency created by the legislature to serve cities and towns that own and operate their electrical distribution systems and is governed by the members. The Authority presently serves 36 municipally-owned electric systems in Oklahoma.
