Bar-S awarded DEEP rebate in Altus

The City of Altus and its power supplier, the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority (OMPA), have presented a check for $54,543 to Bar-S Foods Company for recent energy efficiency improvements at the business.

The rebates were presented as part of the Demand and Energy Efficiency Program (DEEP), administered by OMPA. This is the second-largest rebate check awarded in the six-year history of the DEEP program.

Lighting fixtures throughout the Bar-S Foods location at 500 S. Bar S. Blvd. in Altus are being upgraded to high-efficiency LED lighting; most of the new fixtures have been installed. To date, the enhancements are expected to reduce the facility’s energy demand by 272.72 kilowatts.

DEEP assists OMPA’s 41 member cities with their qualified customers to reduce their electric service energy demand and costs. The program provides rebates to commercial and industrial customers – including schools and government buildings – that implement retrofits that reduce their demand at peak times. Projects include changing out lighting, HVAC, refrigeration, commercial food service equipment, pumps and motors for more energy-efficient equipment.
